Ear Mites

Are ear mites a threat to your pets? The answer is yes. Ear mites can greatly affect your dog. It can also put them in great danger and in rare cases even death. Ear mites are small inconveniences for your pets. They are living organisms thriving on them for food.

It is possible to see ear mites in dogs, cats and even small animals. They are considered as parasites, feeding on dirt and dead skin which in this case can be found inside your pet’s ears. They will stay there for as long as there is food for them.

Ear mites can and sometimes cannot be seen by the naked eye. There are some parasites which are large enough to see on your pet’s coat and skin as well. But, there are some which can only be seen through the use of a microscope.

Dogs become very irritable and it is a burden to them when infested by ear mites. They scratch a lot and sometimes their skin turns to red because of the continuous friction. Most of the dogs have brownish discharges from their ears. These are excessive ear wax triggered by the ear mites.

There is a reason for you to worry if you find ear wax build up in your pets. Your dog might be suffering from ear mite infestation and you should find a solution quickly.

Rarely do ear mites cause death but it does not mean it could not happen. The most common problem is it triggers a hearing problem to your pets. Mites burrow deep into the ears which can damage the ear drums. Ears are responsible for the body’s balance. This is true to both man and animals. Ear mites can cause seizures which can kill your pets.

These parasites can be transferred from one animal to another. Be sure to keep your pets clean to avoid being infested. If they are healthy they will not get these pests easily.
